First crack at compressing vocals...howd i do?

Well, I dont do much of our mixing. But I feel the quality sounds good! What kind of mic do you use?

I dig the track, the vocals have a bit too much reverb/echo/delay. Also the pitch shifted female backing vocals thing has beed done on every single Kanye West song, and is pretty much played out. But I'm a rocker, and it's only my opinion. The Vocal Performance is great though, you sound like you've got "the sound" for today's rap/r&b/hip-hop. The plane flying over head effect has too much bass, and is a bit too loud.

thankx...umm beleieve it or not, I used a $35.00 omni-directional mic from radio shack.

I think I'm starting to hear the potential lost by using it, for now its great though.

Coo. Well, Here is what I've been told, the better quality mic you use, the less you have to do with the vocal in the mix! But, hey, I thought it sounded good, not that I'm all that, but the fact that you used a mic that was $465 cheaper than mine and I thought the vocals sound good . Compressing can be a complex thing. Some people tell you to use very little, my mixing dude use a grip, I use some, its all about what gear you have and how much $ you've got, as far as a good quality in-line compressor and mic, etc, and mostly your experience level, which I myself dont have as much as I think I should. It's hard sometimes for me to really hear the quality over the Internet, but, Keep it bangin...........................
