Firewire Mixers

Ive been trying to record with my band for a while now, and the quality we have been geting from our powered mixer is sub par. We were looking into buying a firewire mixer to get better quality recordings and a way to record multiple tracks at once. I was wondering if anybody had suggestions about what firewire mixer to get, keeping in mind that we have in our band, drums, two guitars, bass, two horns, and two vocals (8 things in all). I was also wondering if we got a firewire mixer, if we would also need to get a power amp to power it. We are trying to spend as little money as possible.
Thanks for you help.

Thats a good idea, to invest in a better one. Im still not clear if this will need a power amp or if it has its own power supply that would come with it.

You shouldn't need a power amp unless you want to use it as a p.a. mixer. It most likely comes with a power supply to run the board.
