Firewire Mixer with DA converters?
My current recording/mixing set-up is a Behringer Xenyx 2442Fx with an M-Audio Delta 1010 Lt.
I was very happy with my set-up until I run into this little baby.
It's an analog mixer with built in Analog/Digital converters. It has 16 inputs, which are all sent through a single firewire cable to the computer. And it costs a little bit more than only my mixer costed me!! :'(
So thinking a little more in the future, I run into this Phonic Helix 24, that has 16 Mic inputs with pre-amps. And it costs 750$. With that thing, a laptop, and a firewire cable I could record 16 tracks anywhere I want!
However, I would have to mix it in my computer with my mouse, or get a usb DAW controller. However I was thinking if there is one of these mixers with also digital/analog converters. So once you have recorded, you can assign each track on your DAW to a track in the mixer. You could also use for example compressors from the DAW and everything else (eq, faders) from the mixer.
Is there a mixer that does that?
Or what firewire mixer do you suggest? No more than 1000$ please.
Thanks.
