I should be buying a Saffire LE sometime this next week.. and I will need a firewire card for my computer. Do you guys have any brands that seem to perform better than others? Or does it really matter? Sort of like most basic network cards.

Make sure it has a TI chipset in it, no reason to make it harder than it has to be

TI firewire chipset is the gold standard for audio interfaces.

Both Belkin and SIIG make TI-chip'ed firewire cards; you can get one from places like newegg.com for $20-30.

Good Tip: Avoid combination Firewire/USB cards - they've been known to cause problems. Get a firewire-only card.

I use a SIIG firewire card and it has been no problem. I've used other brands in the past and they *have* been a problem. Never used a Belkin though. But I do know SIIG works great.
