Why not just go with a usb interface? they're just as good aren't they? A usb interface that meets this criteria is the fast track ultra. Also only going with firewire its going to limit your options. The one I suggested is retail for about 350$ new and is really pretty good for what it is/does.

And for anyone that's actually interested, we're probably doing to go with the Fast Track Ultra. Looks to be the best cost/purpose solution for quick grabs of our band practices/songs.

Mike_J, I've probably designed more broadcast/network level TV facilities in my life than you've even visited. This includes editing facilities in London, New York, Washington DC, Frankfurt and Hong Kong. If you watched any international news on TCN9 between 1976 and 2001 you saw material produced in facilities I designed--they were one of many clients. Now, having given you my credentials....

If you think "it has to be Mac" then you're not a professional no matter how much you fuss and bluster.

I repeat. I've used both PC and Mac in my professional life and both can work just fine.

I run a Presonus Firestudio with Reaper and have no problems at all. Has all of your requirements (and then some). I would highly reccomend it.

How are the preamps on those?

Gotta keep my head down so as not to get told to f*ck off!

Good for you mate and thanks for your CV. Still off topic but clearly we all now know you are a genius.

Honestly, I give up. Thanks to those helped though.
Nuff said.
