I can use 1 or the other Firepod all day long--literally-- but chain 2 together and then second one will go out of sync and the audio gets very distorted and digital sounding.

I have tried the onboard firewire connection as well as a firewire 2 port card. It works somewhat better with the card.

I talked with Presonus and did all the things they suggested but still have problems. They stated the unit may have a problem.HAHA

What sucks is this unit is a replacement for one that had 2 dead channels.
It's a crap shoot when buying these things SO BUYER BEWARE.

And BTW any suggestions as to how I can solve the sync problem will be greatly appreciated as fucking with this Chinese junk has become my second job

My suggestion? Sell your firepods, buy something like a Firestudio, Motu, or RME Digiface, and be happier.

I sold my Firepod (and gave back the one I borrowed from a friend), bought a RME Digiface and PCI card, a couple of ADA8000s, and now I'm much better off.

1 firepod = awesome value for the money
2 firepods = a royal pain that's not worth anywhere NEAR the money

Well I uninstalled the latest driver(2.14.25) and installed the 1.20 version which came with the firepods and they work flawlessly... so what gives? I have read somewhere that the driver needed to run multiple pods was 1.7...but where can I find that driver? and why in the hell can't presonus get off their ass and correct this problem? I call their "tech" support and they said you have to run the latest firmware which never worked for me

Had the same problems with mine. Their original driver was GREAT. I got 1.0 ms of latency all the time. Upgraded to the newer driver, and boom! Had to go to 10 or 25 to get it to work at all. Eventually got both FPs to work, but never as good as I started out with.

Whats Optical Lightpipe on the FireStudio?

Lightpipe is the same as ADAT, which means it can carry 8 channels of digital audio at 48kHz/24 bit over that single fiber-optic cable. You can couple it with a converter like the Behringer ADA8000 for another 8 channels of input.
