Jesus I must have tried to post this 15 times without success....anyhow

I've decided I'm gonna go with a firepod...just one for now, and maybe later get a second rack. I am wondering if anyone here uses on and what you think.

I have read about 100 really positive reviews and about 5 or 6 mild reviews. No one I have read totally hates it.

One thing that has me perplexed....why use neutrik plugs? Seems to make that makes it more difficult to record because you gotta go buy a mic adaptor. Anyone else feel this way?

ADDENDUM: I can't play drums. If I sequenced the drum parts in, say, FL Studio 6, how would I then transfer the audio from those tracks to a track in, say, Cubase?

I own the firepod, it's a great unit for the money.

The benefit of the neutrik is you can use either xlr or 1/4" plugs. You don't need to buy any convertors.....

For your drums, just export them as a wav from FL & import into Cubase

Cool. Thanks for the info. I've been giging for several years now and have used all types of connectors and adaptors before but I have never ever had anyone say to use an XLR or a 1/4 on a Neutrik plug. I didn't even know they would work, but now that I think about it I guess I can see it in the design.

Well Neutrik do make other types of connections besides the xlr-1/4" combos.

I've heard the firepod can be used standalone without a computer, is this true? Does that mean it could be used as an eight channel pre then?? Pretty awesome if it could.

Yes... that´s true. You have to update the firware first, then you have a standalone 8 pre interface...

Great!
Y'know what's cool about that is even if you wanted upgrade your soundcard, it's not going to turn into an expensive metal doorstop as soon as you replace it(as if you ever needed to).
Looks like I'll be getting a firepod then!
