Firepod on the laptop?

So my laptop has no firewire ports. I was thinking about maybe getting a PCMCIA firewire card but the cheapest I can find one is for 13.99.. I know that is real cheap but I would like to spend less cuz im broke lol
Anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys know of any kind of firewire/usb cable or adapter I can use for this... Or if anyone has any experience with any kind of converters like that.... Thanks!

Doesn't work that way.

Juat buy the PC-Card interface and be done with it.

I remember that a couple of chips brands (from the firewire card) works the best with Firepod...
I´m not sure if Texas Ins. chips are the best or the worst... make a search to be sure.

Yup, TI chips are supposed to work best.
