I am looking for a decent practice aid - something I can lay down some tracks and work on various aspects of my playing. I like the portability of the Firebox since I travel a bit and would certainly make use of it. I am looking at mic'ing acoustics (guitar and mando) and potentially doing some simple recording of a small group of us on occasions. I just got offered a deal for a new Firebox for $250 and wonder if it is time to jump on it. My experience with digital recording is nearly nil, so it will be a big jump from my ol' Fostex X-26....

any suggestions are appreciated.

You can get them for $199 on eBay from reputable dealers.... that's where I got mine!

And I got a free MXL V67 with it - can't argue with that!

Well, I have not found anything on there for less than $299, let alone with a free V67 included. There is one used unit available for less, but the way it has been bid up today it will likely go for more than $200. If you have specifics on sellers who meet this price, I would be interested in hearing the details.
