I'm glad to hear you're going to retrack the guitar and bass. It's a little too dark for my taste. I like where you're going with it. Lots of possibility.
 
Im not a fan of the song.
A bit bland for me, but thats just my opinion. :)

You should make the vocals more of the focal point rather than the bass and lead guitar.

Vocals are very sloppy, not in timing but in pitch. Id suggest more practice at singing then use auto tune to smooth out any slightly off notes.

I like the song.... don't feel very qualified to offer more than that apart from the cymbals being not very noticeable to me....
 
The bass is really prominent on my system.

I am digging your voice. You should bring it out more and dial back the bass.

The guitars are a bit fuzzy, was that on purpose? I think the lead needs a bit more verb on it.

Better than the stuff I post, that much is certain.

that's my little sister singing. i don't have a voice that should be heard lol.

no, the guitars aren't supposed to be fuzzy but i'm recording them over anyway. those guitars were direct and i don't like them.

This song is cool, I love the guitar work. I am kind of bummed that it is not you singing, I was gonna ask you if you want to do some singing on some of our songs. I like the buzz on the guitar. I cant offer any mix advise, only my opinion on songs. :cool: I love your sisters voice too btw

I kept trying to crank up the lead though and it just wouldn't go up, without everything else going with it...:D I like your tone and playing.


The lead seems too quiet(fatten it up)..?

After listening 10x's..I think the drums need something. I'm a non-drummer, so not sure what that would be...and my bwain is working it's cells really slow this mid-morning...

thanks True :)

the lead (all the guitars actually) is going to be rerecorded--properly this time. the guitar and bass will sound a lot better. i'm happy enough with the drum track that it's done.

i'll pass along the compliments on the Angie's voice, i'm sure she'll appreciate it :)

I think the drum performance is pretty good - and with that down on tape the rest should come easier.

Others have mentioned issues with the guitar tone. I think the performance is pretty good.

The vocals have an excellent drowsy and smoky quality to them. They are also incandescently out of tune occasionally. Some people think feel is everything and that too many takes will kill the performance. I am not one of those people.

Can she hear herself properly while she's singing? Maybe taking the earphones partially off one ear will help her hear the pitch she's searching for.

i think she heard herself just fine. i think the problem is that she wasnt' ready to record a real track yet. this was mostly just fooling around and getting used to the song.

oh by the way, this is a new mix. i decided to straighten out the issue with the drums. the overheads have been turned up and the 8k range has been boosted some. i think they sound good now :) the only other item i really messed with in this mix, is i turned the bass down a bit and tried to make the guitars a bit brighter. i'm going to rerecord them anyway but the effort didn't cost anything :)

The guitars are pretty crunchy tone wise-I think adding tracks with the Nighthawk would fill it out nicely. A little cleaner toned track added to the other tracks can make a big difference on a mix down the line, just start laying down tracks and experiment!!;)

I've listened a few times and all I can say is that it sounds great and I'm glad to see that you are playing guitar and recording again. :)
