I am just starting to record at home. I have a laptop running Windows Vista and Acid Pro. I am looking for a compatible interface with a USB connection, one or two inputs, and no need for external power. I don't need anything fancy since it is just me, my guitar and vocals. I was hoping on putting down about $100. Does anyone have any advice?

there are tons, most I've been hearing about is the firebox

M-Audio Fast Track USB. 99 bucks packaged with M-audio's session software which is probably better than Acid 7. I have Acid 6 as well and im not a real big fan. I'm not sure how much more advanced 7 is though.

The Fast Track USB will record at 44.1 and packaged with a good mic or...........decent mic......you will get good results.

I use a shure SM57 to mic my guitar amp. It works pretty good!!!!!!!!! Definetly not proffessional results but they are good results to say the least.

good luck man.

great help!

Thanks to all for your suggestions! You have really helped me out!
