Finally! My Floor Plan!

Ok gang, here it is, the floor plan for my new studio.


The "floor grid" will be the 2X4's to float the studio. Essentially, we've laid it out so we can figure out how much wood we'll need.

Which brings me to a question about the cavities: Fiberglass or Styrofoam insulation? (JUST for the floor cavities.) Pros? Cons?

Any comments/suggestions/criticizms are welcome!

Hello Oznimbus, can I ask you on what are you "floating" the floor? And the walls? Are the walls fastened to the floating floor or to the existing floor? Just like to see how and what other people are using.

Looks pretty good to me.
I wouldn't cut the base plates at 45 degree angles as shown on the exterior walls. And you'll need something under there to support the corners. The drawing looks like a 2"x6" base plate; are you going to use staggered studs for the walls?

The existing floor is concrete.... The actual material used to float the 2X4's will be either carpet runner or hockey pucks. Whichever winds up being cheaper, probably.
As for the walls, they'll be built on top of the floating floors. This is going to be a "heavy metal" studio, so I need to keep those drums QUIET!

Yes, those are 2X6 plates.... at least that's what my designer had in mind, but we'll probably only use them in the drum room. Yes, there will be staggered studs in there :)
 
Are you planning on one floating floor frame for the whole complex, or seperate floor frames for each individual room?
