A few months ago I purchased a 50's reissue strat ( surf green!!!). I have enjoyed it's chimey bright tone. Played it through the Boogie... sounded Ok, the Marshall, Ok. But then........... the Blackface Deluxe. OMG. Finally I found a match made, well you know. I had wanted to mod the amp for months to suite (sp) my other guitars. I think in retrospect, the others P/u's were too hot. Longer story longer, the combination allowed me to dime the Deluxe and achieve that slitghtly overdriven tone without the farts often associated with the Deluxe. Lowering the volume to 7, Treble 6 bass 4, and pickups open was true heaven. Then lowering the tone contols on the Strat to a mid position yeilded the sweetest, warm sound that with chourus and a slight delay was just fab. Just had to share.
