Hi,
I recently had a weekend long recording session at my house with my band.
From this session we've focused entirely on a live 'one take' track called 'Weather'. The song is pretty mellow in general, getting a bit more rocky towards the end:

I'm really happy with the warm tones we've achieved so far for the clean parts, the drums were lacking to begin with, so I used the drum replacement tool in Logic Pro 9 to enhance the kick and snare with a couple of subtle midi tracks. So far so good.
However, I feel it's really lacking the punch/crunch of the guitars when it kicks in a little more rocky toward the end.

Any thoughts?
Any advise, criticism, tips greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.
The amateur

Thanks for the comment dude.
Any tips on drying out the vocals and blending them into the mix more?

The easiest way to fix that is turn down the "wetness" of whatever plugin you are using on the vocals at the beginning and other parts. Then bring down the volume on the vox.. Except like the verses or whatever.. I actually find them to be hard to hear. Maybe you could bring the volume of those up somewhat.. or do something better to make them cut through the mix.

Nice guitar tones.

vocals in the second verse sound better mix wise than the first verse. you should match the first to the second.

The distorted guitars are a bit muddy. the lead sounds good though. i like the song alot. I don't see a real need for the sound effects.

I agree with him as far as the 2nd verse vocals mixed better.. but my only thing about the vocals there is that I can't really understand a lot of what he is singing... mixed better.. but kind of lost in the mix at the same time.

The vocals seem a bit loud and are really wet.

Ditto!!!:D

Thanks for thoughts and tips guys, it's much appreciated! We're pretty amateur in our approach and our equipments is equally modest, but I'm trying to clean up the mix as much as possible wherever I can.

I'll completely remove the distorted effect as advised, I agree, to be honest, it does sound quite out of place now I think about it.

Thanks for the compliment on the lead tone, I worked pretty hard on that. The rythm distortion however is a nightmare!! Any tips on fattening it out?
