"Final Daze"

I really like this song. I like the beginning stylistically, but I'm not sure about the "sound." For example, the voice, even though it's has that cool delay, is very up front and present, but the drums and the acoustic have a "room" sound to them that the belies the bigness of the song as it develops.

This is a subjective issue, and about the only the thing I hear.

(BTW--I think I just heard the part that reminded someone of Styx. I don't have a timer on it, but it's and instrumental break near the middle. It's reminiscent of Styx just before they got huge--like Equinox or Crystal Ball)

Great job!
Thanks bud!

This isn't anywhere near a final mix ... but I totally get the incongruities you mention. When I set to putting this in concrete, I'll be paying close attention to making sure everyone is more in the same space.

Very cool tune. The only thing I find is the vocals a little loud. Besides that, everything sounds great!!!
See post above re: vox ... but THANKS for the good words!

That's a finely recorded acoustic guitar..just how I'd want it. The tempo changes are very fluid. The parts where just acoustic and crunchy electric play are just the best sound. Great job.

One of the curses of working alone is that there is so much ground to cover, that there's little adequate time for sonic experimentation ...

So I rely a lot on presets --- thumbing through synth settings and/or POD tones until I find something that fits right into place.

That crunchy guitar in the chorus break is a "China Grove" preset on the POD XT ...

The rest of the electric guitars are also POD tones, but I think there's nearly 8 of them blended to make the electric git wall in the second verse ... and I don't remember any of the settings ... I just kept adding until I got the right thickness.

Thanks for the kind words!

Wow Kevin - this is an excellent piece. The writing, arranging and recording are top notch IMO. I get the references to the various prog rock groups, I can hear the spots where they resemble them but that's a good thing IMO. Only thing I would like to hear is a bit more overall lows on the mix. It's especially noticeable before the bass comes in. Impressive!:D:cool::D
