Just a few questions that i have been thinking about for awhile.. I started recording a few years ago, but didn't have the chance to get in depth. Hoping to learn more on this fantastic site! :D I currently own a 2x2 Audiobox USB, a Toshiba Satellite A665 Labtop, a $100 Mogami Microphone that was recommended by a worker at a near by guitar center store, and my Ibanez Prestige. I searched everywhere for answers but had no luck.. If i found a similar topic, it seemed like i have been away for too long because i didnt understand alot.. Please help

1) On my Audiobox USB, what is a good adjustment for the INST1 knob (0((-10)) to 60((+30))) and my MAIN knob (-80 to 10)?

2) Would it be best to record the electric guitar on a small sized room? hallway? or in the big open, living room?

3) and finally, is it possible to record the drums with only on two microphones?

Thank you,
Danny

1. If there were one right position for all uses the manufacturer could save a lot of money by elimitating th knob. What does your manual say about it?

2. Yes.

3. Yes, but not optimal, and perhaps not acceptable. You are there so you get to be the judge.

Your aim is to get the correct level signal into your software (which is?)... it's pretty difficult to advise knob settings without having a view of what the output signal is....

Also depends upon what you're recording and how loud it is (which is?) ...

I think you need to read a bit more of the many threads about recording generally round these parts, and then try some actual recording and see what the results are so you have some actual recorded stuff as a reference point...
