I have a 1 input soundcard, i am soon to get a mixer and I have three mics. I use cool edit pro. I was wondering is there a way i could plug in my mics into the mixer on seperate channels, than have all those mics combine into one wire so i could plug into my computers 1 input soundcard? i know this will prevent me from having seperate tracks on cool edit, but i figured if i could have a friend work the mixer who was really good and do all the fades and pan in real time, i could just get everything on one track on cool edit. Thanks alot

Your soundcard has 1 input yes, but I would think that it is a stereo - Left/Right input.

So you actually have 2 inputs.

What I use to do, was use a splitter cable (actually I built it in a plastic project case) which consists of 1 - stereo 1/8" jack that splits to 2 - 1/4" female input jacks.

This would allow you to send your the signal from your mixer into the Left channel or the Right channel. Or, with 2 mic's, you could send them left and right for some stereo micing.

With 3 mic's (don't know what your recording here, let's assume drums) you could send a submix of the 3 out of your mixer into the 2 inputs on the cable and still maintain some stereo perspective.

enough rambling...
