So is this unit decent?

Read Wiki and it said its probably Fenders response to Epi Valve Jr.

resurrected in 2006.
5 w, 12x7 and 6v6...sounds very similar.

$200....so I'd have to compare it the Epi Valve Jr & its cabinet ~$225.

Any inputs on the Fender Champion now that its been out awhile?

So, now it's EVJ vs. Champion vs. Palomino. I haven't tried the Champion, so I can't say, but if it's gonna be thrown in that category I strongly recommend you try out the Palomino if you haven't already.

actually I tried a Palomino/ the Crate V tube and it was very decent. The one I played was too big. 50 or something.

I cleared my head up (thanks to Lt Bob) and realized I had a POD and SS amp...so little tube amp it shall be.

if I wasn't so frkn lazy, I'd just go get the damn head Vjr and I already have 2 speakers a friend gave me. Brit Celestions.

the epi valve jr price has gone up $30 while I was procrastinating...damn!

not much on this forum about the Fender Champion.

what Crate V are you referring to? 15,20,50?

There's a 5 watt now. Line out on the back also.

Peavey is supposed to bring out a 15 watt Windsor combo as well, with a built in power soak. Some places say released Q2 07, yet I can't find it anywhere.

pretty sweet. the carte Vseries added a few extras like the tone and pre, line out...

hmm?...the one I played was a really nice sound. not sure if it will hold over time. 5watt I'll have to go try one.

my concern is the loudness required for tube. thats where my friend nearly immediately mod' the epi, standby, tone, pre...

thanks...

off to the store to try a 5watt Crate.

I have heard 1-2 watts is pretty loud. like this micro

I have a Champ 600 and i have also played an epi valve Jr. i own a gibson ga-5 LP Jr amp which i believe is the boutique verson of the epi.

They are both completely different tones. If you want a more Class A overdriven sound the Epi is great for the price and if you want an awesome boxy fendery clean then the champ is what you want. i tried cleans on the epi and hated it and i tried the champ 600 cranked and hated it. but what they do well individualy they do VERY well.

the epi is definitely the louder of the two.

well, I'm broker than hell...and can't afford much right now. So I need something that does both. I hear this type of honesty, and it goes back to nothingness.

I know I like the Lonestar Mesa Boogie??!

so what if my guitar amp costs more than my car!

:p
