You can't get reverb or Vibrato with the head versions?

There are Showman Reverbs. They are built in a taller case than the non-reverb models.

I gained access to a 60's Deluxe Reverb BF tonight and fooled around with it. So this thing is 22W? I never realized how loud 22W could be. It did break up, but at pretty high volumes.

I have one of those and I absolutely love it.

Check out a Rivera. It's a Fender on steroids and it's made in the US of A.
I second that. I have a Pubster which 25 watts into a 10". It's like a Super Champ on steroids.

Here's a question, since the Boogie Marks are refinements of the Fender amp design, what do you hope to accomplish by getting a Fender? The Boogie will probably do all the same stuff, so I'd diversify, get a Vox or a Marshall.

i have the hot rod deluxe, 1x12, i lovee it!

the blues junior is pretty hot too, a lil less wattage, and a lil cheaper, but also excellent for the studio.

my boss has a fender super 60, i think it is, and he's using it for his new studio. that amp is awesome, not made anymore, but im sure you could find one.

Any of the 2x6L6 combos would be awsome (and just to correct, the Pro Reverb is not solid state rectified until the mid 70's). A Deluxe Reverb would work for most people too. Check out early Silverface models, most have the very similar build to the Blackface models at lower prices.

If you absolutely need SUPER loud and clean than go with a Twin Reverb.

I think you want the reverb and trem, they are part of mystique (I have a 66 Bassman but dont play it much because I like the rev./trem / combo format of my '72 Pro Reverb).

New models are nifty, but I like the original versions better.

This could open up a whole new bottle of whiskey. Does anyone else agree with this? I can see your point. I was looking at some Vox amps, but the ones in my price range looked to be solid state.

A new Vox Ac-30CC is around $800 new and it has tremolo, reverb and all that. Are these new ones respectible?

Mesa has come a long way from being being Fender-based. I think the early ones can get alot of the Fender Princeton vibe, but still not quite the same. If you like Vox EL84 style amps but can't afford one, check out a Peavey Classic 30. It puts out around thirty watts, has decent cleans and breaks up smoothly with alot of sweetness and chime. Don't worry that its a Peavey, these really are nice amps. I have 2. A classic 20 and a 50. I also have a bunch of old Fenders and the Peavey Classics can hold their own.
An AC-30 will probably be louder than you want. Hope this helps...

I can't imagine what a Twin sounds like cranked all the way up. So anyway, maybe I want something with even less wattage....or I'll just settle on a Blues Deluxe or Blues Deville (and then there's the HotRod version of both)....not sure what you gain or lose with that.

To those of you who have responded, thanks. I'm getting closer to making a choice.

Princetons still look good too.

Look into a SF early 70's Princeton, and if its not loud enough for you then you can change out the stock speaker to a higher wattage more effecient speaker. This will give you more headroom which could be enough for your needs. I went 2 steps further and modded a 70' PR with a 12" Eminence Governor and a Deluxe output transformer. This combination game all the clean headroom I needed for ANY venue I play at. I mic the amp anyway. It now pushes about 18-20 very clean and loud watts. It is now my main gig amp. The main attraction to modding the amp this way was it's portability. Here's a pic of the front and back view of the amp.

Eh, don't buy a Blues Junior for studio work... they sound great for sitting in the living room, but when the volume goes up a bit, the thing can get noisy, and it also loses a lot of bottom end. Again, Im happy with it overall, but with the proper mic's you can get a decent recording sound (clean) out of the DeVille without blasting the roof off. If you are looking for a bluesy, jazzy specific tone, the DeVille or Deluxe are great amps. Coupled with the right gain/distortion pedal they work great, but the built-in gain channel on the DeVille can get muddy. My brother owns the Deluxe and has always gotten a great crunch out of it, so perhaps for lower volumes you might want to go for the Deluxe. As a versatile amp, however, the DeVille is a better workhorse in terms of different sounds. The Deluxe has always sounded great when we play in bands, but my brother doesn't play jazz or much clean-channel stuff, so it really never serves more than that one function.

i had a 65 pro reverb for a very short time. I wasn't into those fender amps at the time, so I did the stupid thing of selling it. I got it from this old guy in to town for 400 bucks and sold it for 800. I did good on the deal but man I shoulda hung on to that piece.

I'm ppretty satisfied with my boogies(dc-5) for cleans though. But the those old combo's are severe clean in tone. I will get one again.... maybe a 70's twin.

My 70' & 73' modded Princeton Reverbs are my main gigging amps over any amps I own. They both have a bigger Deluxe OT and both have Emi. 12" speakers. They both now are a Princeton & Deluxe hybrid and push about 18-22 watts. Both of these babies have nice clean headroom and start to saturate at about 5 1/2 which is fairly loud, but still not to tear your head off. Here's a pic of my babies.

To the point about your MKIIC+ being able to cop the "Fender vibe". I also own and have played a IIC+ since 1983-4 and own and play through a 1968 Bassman 50...they sound nothing alike to my old ears.
