I listened to " Turn Around"

over compressed musical mix.................wall of sound............vox is lost under the instruments....a definite lack of dynamics.....

there is def potential...a re-mix could make this really cool....

I agree with this. Smashed to death. I like the guitar tones, but that's about it unfortunately. The drums are wimpy yet somehow harsh, the vocals are buried, and the bass is mashed down in there somewhere. I'm sorry you paid for this. I think a remix is in order. :(

Look at the waveform...

What the others said. Unwind the compression a bit and there's a good song under there somewhere, but it needs some air.

awesome, thanks for taking the time to check it out. we want to record again, and i'm trying to tell the guys that we have to really pay attention this time. or invest in some equipment and time and just do our own.

Re-recording might be overkill unless there are fundamental issues. It really sounds like re-mixing would sort it out.
TBH, I agree with the other guys about the compression, but I didn't think it was awful. Just a bit much.

I don't know how familiar or savvy you are, but if you go down the DIY route, be prepared to spend years getting right back where you started. ;)

I agree with the others. I think a re-mix would likely do the trick. The drums need to be much bigger especially when it's heavy rock. Steenamaroo makes a great point. Having your own gear doesn't mean you'll ultimately get a better product. You've got to know how to use everything properly. Do you have the stems from your session?

It strikes me that there are perfectly solid performances buried deep within this mix. Presented like this though, it sounds kind of harsh to me. I agree with most of what's already been said.

I third the remix it thing. Maybe give the remix forum a go?

we should have the stems, and i can't wait to show all of the comments to my band mates so i can convince them for a remix. send it to a pro to do the remix, but i have also started the long journey to achieve my own mix, it will take years. lol. but i love learning .. thanks for chipping in.
