I listened to Fusion.

The thing I noticed from the outset was that the drums are very loud. They're clipping regularly. They're also covering up the keyboards. So I'd pull all the drum tracks a couple of db's.

The keyboard that has the melody line is a bit too far back in the mix. I also seem to hear some crackling in addition to the clipping.

Anyway, that's what I heard.

I listened to a chunk of err um Track #11 not sure which link I clicked :D , but I heard the same problems that TripleM described in fusion, the drums clipping and overpowering the underlying music.

the bass is also loud, but it R&B without words so I'm not really sure. you have some deep bass problems too, the sound pressure hurt my ears so I had to stop it. (I have a really bassy system that let's you know when bass is too deep, even at low volumes)(don't you say it Sam, I know all about my mix :D ).

much obliged...

I do appreciate the feedback. I am about a month into my stab at audio engineering if you will and have tons to learn. I also agree with the bass problems. Some of these instrumentals are a bit older and have had other attempts at mixing completed since then, but I will definitely give the suggestions a go round. Maybe the levels are funny because all of the "mixing" was done straight from the keyboard sequencer that I used. And the drums are loud because they were recorded from a separate input source. The mixes were performed before I actually learned anything about my digital multitracker so I will get back in the lab and post up some nuness.
Much obliged to all, Humbly

I listened to "First". Not bad. Almost a Quincy Jonesish vibe to it. I wasn't really getting into the percussion sound, but I'm not really into the urban thing so it could just be my taste. I could hear less abrupt sounding percussion and some nice vocals on top of this ala James Ingram or similar (showing my age here I guess). The music is very background sounding...not really a strong melody in there. That's why a I think a good melody & vocals would really be cool in here.

I didn't hear tons wrong with the mix...but then again...I'm not an expert on that at this point, especially with my computer speakers. :D

Nice work.

bump...

I would really love some more feedback, maybe not just about the mix but the general musicianship even. Any and all are welcome.
