Hello all. I did some recording on my fostex home studio and am pretty impressed with the sound quality. I did have to have it mastered to bring it up to a normal volume. Check it out on my site if u like, i would love any feedback! hear it on ....

i think it lost some sound quality in the mp3 ripping, but its still pretty good. only the second song ( about your love ) was recorded at home. The others were at a pro studio. I think the home studio was definitely the better investment. The only thing thats noticeable better are the drums b/c i didnt have enuff mics at the time. give a listen and let me know what u think. thanx!!

sorry

i wish i knew how! but heres the site again

The song is a good song but you need to spend more time mixing and tweaking, the guitar sounded dull and the intonation was amiss slightly. The quality of the other song i heard blows the home studio thing away for sure. Your band sounds good on the studio stuff.

thanx!

i appreciate your feedback! I think the drums are the most noticeable difference. I am glad u say the studio stuff sounds better though, b/c it sure cost a good amount more. thanx again for listening!

I agree...the studio stuff shines alot better. More space, better panning, good use of reverb, better balance...all the important stuff...

the home brew was more mono-ish sounding...and yes..the drums.
"Tower" rocks...good tune...my pic of the three.

kewl

thanx for all the responses. I agree about the sound differences. But i am trying to figure out if its worth it. Payed a good amount of cash for the real studio stuff. Just trying to see how much worse it is. thanx again!

Listened to "Mother". I liked the song. Heres what i think about the mix. The vocals could come up a bit and the guitar. The snare sounds a little to "poppy". Maybe its the reverb.

Not bad. I like the vibe.

oh...btw, you might consider limiting your mp3 review requests to this forum (mp3 mixing clinic), rather than posting it in all the other forums, in addition to this one. Most people get around here, and will see it, and some people have actually made it a point to "mock" such flagrant mis-posting, by actually, purposely mis-posting themselves...in every forum...can you believe that!!:D

It would probably take months/years of working in a recording studio to be able to achieve the results you are looking for in a home studio. You have to spend the bucks on your home setup and learn how to use your software and hardware to get studio quality results. How much time do you have and how deep are your pockets?

shallow pockets

i dont expect to get the same quality as a pro studio, as long as i can get a decent sound. As for deep pockets............. uh they r shallow :)
