I just got some new very low-end equipment as an early Christmas present for myself. I tried recording my old acoustic guitar.

I'd rather do the test blind and not tell you which equipment I have. Can you comment on the quality of the microphones, pres, etc.? What do you hear - do you hear hiss, boomy bass? Something in my recording technique or EQ I should correct? The mic is 30 cm (1 foot) away from the guitar but is there perhaps some proximity effect still, should I take my mic further away?

The guitar is quite muddy. Just a tad boomy. Where are you pointing it? Not directly at the sound hole I hope.

And welcome. :D

At the 12th fret really... where does the muddyness come from? What do you otherwise think of the sound? Good enough for a demo?

Hmm I guess it's just the mic. I mean, you will want to high pass the track. But otherwise, I think it sounds pretty good.

The bottom end is a little muddy, but not full, either. I don't think its proximity effect and further out is probably going to get too much room sound. Thought I heard a little vibration-buzz from something for a fraction of a second, too.
