I've been working to optimize the recorded sound of my new Lowden guitar. It's got a pretty astounding acoustic tone, and I've been trying to get mic placement, etc. down to efffectively capture it. I'd love some feedback on my latest attempts. There are a few extraneous noise that you may pick up if you listen closely, but I think I like where the sound is going.

Software - Adobe Audition
Mics - Oktava MC012 and AT3035
Pre - M-Audio DMP3
Card - M-Audio Delta 44

If you are inclined to give it a go, please go to http://www.billvencil.com/music and select "Seven Words", "Strong Zeal Trail", or "She Dwelt".

Thanks!

Bill,

The Lowden sounds very balanced between the trebles, mids, and maybe just slightly less on the bass. Overall great sounding guitar and it sounds like you have the mic selection and placement where it should be. I also really liked the Thunderhawk. Sounds very bright for a baritone! Take this all with a grain of salt because I'm at work listening thru my harman/kardon PC speakers.

rpe

ps: great playing!!

I listened to Strong Zeal,
It's a well played piece & a very nice sound. Felt like I was listening to something from Zep 3. When do the tablas come in man?
Cheers

I have nothing to say except I am really jealous, a Lowden is my dream acoustic. Congrats. :)

Thanks all for the kind comments! I am going to try and keep posting new stuff out there since I've got some momentum.

Zep 3? Wow, I am going to have to get that one out and take a listen! :)

And the Lowden is something of a dream guitar for me. I really wanted a Sobell, but they were way out my league price-wise. As it is, I am selling off some other guitars to help pay for the Lowden...
