It is a nylon stringed classical. I play it like an acoustic because it has a great tone (whether I can get that recorded is another thing apparently..ha). However, my setup is pretty nickel and dime. I have 1 SM57 and 1 SM58. I run it thru a Behringer board and into a cheap Soundblaster PCI128 card. It is mixed thru headphones. Given all that - I, and others, are usually impressed with the results. I have since picked up a Soundcraft M12 board and a Delta 1010. I hope to get some sort of condenser in the next month or two.
I have listened to Betrayed after these comments and understand what you are all saying. I was 50-50 on the falsetto thing. I asked a bunch of people - and people seemed to like it for whatever reason so I kept it there. However, the more I listen to it - the more I think it probably needs to change.
Additionally, I think some of the troubles have to do with the SM58 because the only song I have that was recorded with another mic (akg 3000b) seems better. Also I have a deep voice which I probably dont properly utilize (which is one comment Ive received before). Additionally - as far as emotional charge goes - my rough demo-type takes always sound better because Im playing while singing so Im more into it. When I try to record just vocals I dont have that vigor (and thus it sounds monotonous)
Thanks again...
