Hi guys...I just laid down the vocals for this one and thought I'd throw it out there. This has got some tracks where I just clap hands and another playing pots and pans...stuff like that. But it's all in rhythm, and has an abnormal mood to it.

I should have been packing today, but shit man...you know how it is...

kinda has a "chain gang" kinda feel to it, to me. interesting gtr leads. As weird as it is, it's top notch to me. It just morphs into the "song" ....perfect. But...I think you are too "" to move!!

the mix sounds good........nothing too out of place or anything......unique writing, interesting song

Hey Mixmkr...ya this one is definitely NOT for radio. Or even non-musicians probably. But believe it or not, so far it's my favorite project! There's something about the mood that feels natural to me. Thanks for the listen my man!

Powderfinger- Thanks for checkin' it out....hope it didn't bore ya or anything :)

Also, I thought the ending was just great.

the level around here is getting so I don't feel like posting any more stuff anymore. Kinda like, why embarress yourself?

Man talk about yer "mood swings"DAMN !! hehe! Hey I liked this dude...most intresting. It's got movie track written all over it. Enjoyed it SLuiCe..

Interesting...

The song sounds like a group of hobgoblins (or maybe leprechauns) are marching somewhere in the forest. Searching for ... something... Very weird soundscape. Still it's recognisable as your work again. Nice weird-o guitar solo at 1:30 or so. The mix is great again and your vocals are good. Remind me of Roger Waters (who always sounds pessimistic and sarcastic :D ). The drums are good, except that the crash cymbals were a bit too loud. This is just amazing. Great atmosphere and use of vocal harmonies. I love those heavy metal attacks here and there. The spooky part is haunting and great. I just can't imagine how you come up with this stuff.

woh. out there man. and i was there with you. very ecelectic. good job. 'nuff said.

your percussion was very effective. where did the inspiration come for this one?

heard it... loved it as usual...

are you being influenced by jeap at all  :) Eclectic, interesting percussive sounds... Everything is super-tite, and super-clean... You have the secret to good mixes, my man.... they seem so effortless... very creative stuff, no surprise... the name "SLuiCe" is a brand of quality....

If there's a problem with this mix, it's the tom toms (around 2:20?) thought I heard a touch of clipping... but could just be a delusion.

Nice full mix there around 3:40.... and again around 3:58... what a pro, and an artist, all wrapped up in the same guy...

As chrisharris might say... "don't ever leave this place" :D

Fucking brilliant
You geneous Tom.
You really have your own style. Good musicianship, good everything. Nice guitar work dude.....

Scott Tansley.

Whoa ... wasn't expecting this. Very cool rhythms ... experimental, and yet very accessable. I like the lyrics here and your vocals sound great.

Man, there is some good stuff on the board lately (check out Sam's new one... :)

This is very very cool. The mix sounds good over here.

Have you heard of a band called "Severed Heads"? They are kind of industrial, but their instruments are all homemade (pots and pans and things) ... The creativity here and the arrangement is great!

Keep up the good work :)

Now get back to packin! :) :) :)

Hey Tom,
........I like cranky's analogy...... .......some meth'd up midgets on their quest of understanding through the dark forest of inequality....... ........and shit.

Some of your material can lean toward being a little inaccessable (not a bad thing), so when i read the post above about this one being a musicians only thing....... .....I was expecting one of those tunes that takes 10 listens to get a grip on. On the contrary, this carries a massive hook. The verse melody line...... .......especially after the harmonies kick in..... .....is very strong. I dont know where you got the idea for that dumb sounding clapping......... but it sure works. I like the phrygian feel too........... great stuff man. .....and really, not at all unaccessable.

.......Of course i could have done without the fatulence at the beginning:D

I didn't get a chance to respond to you guys much last night cuz I was hammered and pissed off. But I'm better now. Started moving out today- not good with a hangover...

mixmkr- thanks for mentioning the ending...I was debating whether to cut it or not. In fact, I almost made this thread a poll on keep it or ditch it. Thanks again man.

David- regarding the movie thing- yeah, I really went for visual with this, hence the soundtrack qualities. The pots and pans and he handclaps were to try and give it a "rustic" sort of soundscape. Glad ya dug it bro....thanks!

CrankyOne- Yep, I gave it a listen today, and those cymbals are a bit loud. As far as "how I come up with this stuff," the ideas just sort of hit me when I ain't looking. Mini recorders are helpful to ensure I don't forget anything. Thanks for the listen!

JR#97- Thanks again for the ears.

participant- "You have the secret to good mixes, my man.... they seem so effortless..."
The mixing gets easier the more you pay attention to mic placement and general tracking responsibilities. It's a long hard lesson ;)

Scott Tansley- Hey man thanks for checkin out another tune for me. All the way from Australia even!
G'day mate :D

boydrj- Nope haven't heard of severed heads, but I'll try to remember to check em out. And ya, Sam's stuff is always great. I think we're going to collab on something soon....just need the right ideas to work with! I always enjoy your stuff too. I can't remember the name, but the first one I heard from you was a real treat! Take it easy man.

Sluice- no wait....I'm Sluice...

Mike with this post, we are now even on post counts! :D That's funny...wouldn't have even noticed if Chad hadn't mentioned it...lol. Glad you dug it bro. I'm tracking "Look Away" end of this coming week here. In new, sweet, quiet, space :D And don't take my last post the wrong way...she's usually quite patient with me. But you know.... :D

Cheers guys!

boy... theres some clever stuff going on in there.
those real hand claps sure beat the sampled ones.. nice

can I trade some of my guitar power in for a halfway decent set of vocal horns :) you sure dont hear a set of pipes like yours everyday :) drenched with uniqueness!

another dandy from ya!
