FD4 bug

when we record a song, if we then try to play it back, sometimes it will repeat about 1 second of audio, like a cd skipping. is this some problem with our machine? please, say it ain't so...

Is your FD4 Still skips? I have experienced it in my FD 8 b it also skipped. In my own experience it skipped because my hard drive hanged. When your audio skips and repeats notice the access led. When the green light is stuck for a long time and it never blinks like it usually do, it means that your Hard drive or your zip is not accessing also means that your recording media is hanging.
 
Hmm- I see. Does that mean that the data is not actually corrupted? We've got a zip drive with it... If not, that's a major worry about this machine disappeared- we bought it secondhand at a dirt cheap price, so I was beginning to think he got rid of it for a reason!
 
When you buy used, you never know. Hey, I use an Orb Drive and I must say I have never experienced this particular problem and I use my FD-4 alot. So I think it sounds more like a drive problem, especially since the digital data is stored off-board. Maybe try a different ZIP drive or get something like an Orb or a JAZ Drive.

The zip drive is a Sy-Quest one, the one recommended for using with it, so I really hope it isn't! Having said all this, we've been using it more and it SEEMS to have settled down a bit now (hope!). Thanks every1, I'll let u know if we come across any more major problems!
