What's your favorite reporter's mic? A dynamic omni that is...which one's your fav?

ElectroVoice 635a is a popular dynamic omni that I believe is used a lot in broadcasting.

The RE20 is fine for in-studio use but not for the field.

As for an interview mic in the field it depends on your use. for most face to fact interviews they will use an omni dynamic. Electrovoices and Shure's are the most popular. However in a noisy interview space, particularly like say a sports locker room, they will use the narrowest dynamic they can find.

I find studio and even live stage uses for my SM63, but I want whatever mic Bob Barker uses

This thing is sick:

My fav is the Beyer M58. Blows everything else out of the water, that's my opinion.

+1. It's pretty much the defacto field reporting omni.

I second the M58, the frequency response is much better than the 635a and the longer handle means you don't have to shove your hand in an interviewees face. The 635a is in second place too though and a lot cheaper. You can apparently get a 635L which also has a long handle but i havn't seen one.

All of the field journos I worked with at an NPR/BBC co-production used RE20s.

That might be the RE55, which, as well as being longer, has a wider frequency range - not really important for interviewing.

The EV RE50 is also popular. It's a 635 with an "outer skin" and internal shock mounting for better suppression of handling noise.

Ahh, excuse me for being so slow. Now I get your Airplane! reference. Sorry it took so long.
