Regarding my Peavey Classic 30. I just came to the conclusion after messing around with it that the "Boost" switch was f***ing up my sound.

Once i shut that off and made some other adjustments i am getting the same sound i got in the store witch is very sweet with the Les Pul Jr. DC with the P-90s.

Yeah, the boost switch totally jacks up the sound, making it very muddy. A couple of other things you might want to try is throwing some different tubes in there. It's a known fact that the particular Sovtek tubes that are stock in the C30 kinda suck the tone out of it. I've had great results with JJ Tesla tubes from www.eurotubes.com (the guy knows his stuff) and I've also heard about good results with Mullards.

A '62 Strat into a '67 Fender Twin Reverb for clean to mild overdriven tone.

A '59 Les Paul into a Marshall 1987XL Head and 1960TV (Half-Stack) 4-12 cabinet for heavier stuff.

As usual, YMMV

Or how about a '64 Strat into a '66 Vibrolux Reverb

and a '56 Les Paul into a '91 Mk IV Boogie.

Actually the Paul into the Vibrolux is really crunchy - and the '60 Tele into the '66 Pro Reverb really shimmers, too.
