I'm using a Digi002 rack and I want to richen the live drums, give them that old analog tone while track and spend less time mousing around while mixing. Any advice? I was thinking of using a mix wizard and eq pre A/D, but now I'm thinking it might be too clean.

yeah I used either a at2020 or my zoom h4 recorder, the drummer in question is heavy on the cymbals so I can't keep as much of the snare and toms as I'd like to.

I'm thinking i need to run through board to give her some analog grunt and I'd like to get the Dir mics sounding good before I press rec. and advice.

I seen an old soundcraft rack mounted board at the local shop maybe I'll see if I can borrow it and put it to the test.

Room mics and HELLA COMPRESSION!!!

BTW, if you do use lots of compression it's probably better to do it in the mixing phase.

I just checked out that old board, it's a soundcraft rac pac. I'm looking for something I can run the kit through with dir out post eq. This board is post eq and fader(?) the only thing I don't like is it's missing P-EQ on the mids and the LF is at 40hz ( a little low don't you think?) anyway the unit is dirt cheap and in great shape for being 12 to 14 yrs old. That's the kind of analog colour I'm after.
