Flamingo!
Hello all :D

Just wanted your thoughts and opinions on this recording. Sorry for the mistakes. A little too drunk :drunk:

No EQ. Slight compression. Small amount of reverb. Crappy backup guitar. One year old strings. :D

Not bad, especially if you were drunk :p Wish I could play flamenco classical! So much more pleasant to listen to, especially as an instrument by itself.

Overall it's lacking in some of the upper-mids; a bit dull-sounding. Sounds like it might've been the room (carpeted/smallish?). What mic did you use? Sounds like a dynamic of some sort.

Not sure if that's the guitar buzzing or the pre distorting, but some of the harder hits on what sounds like the second or third string have some sort of distortion or rattle to 'em. Like you said, crappy back-up guitar, so I'd imagine it's the guitar itself that's the issue.

Perhaps a bit of eq and a bit more/bigger verb?

Thanks Steve! The dullness is probably due to the old strings and the buzzing I presume is the guitar. My better guitar had a broken string and no store was open on Christmas, so I used my back up :D I should probably re-track :laughings:

I actually used an LDC an MXL 4000 I think. I think I'm going to use an SDC next time.

And yeah I think some EQ is needed. :)

Ahh, that makes sense. It certainly ads some realism to it that uber-polished classical recordings can lack, but it also adds dullness and buzz :p

What sort of room did you track in?

Gotcha ;) You can tell more easily with this genre than with full-band productions: just one acoustic guitar in a room, the room apparently makes a big difference!

Oh man, that'd definitely make your job easier :) Not certain about the over-the-top crane shots, but fuck it, it's epic music, it deserves epic camera work, right?
