Ahoi there!!
I have a proposal for anyone who's up for the challenge:
We (my band) recorded a 'semi-professional' demo with a guy a year ago. Since listening to it though, we realised that one track in particular sounds very empty.
I'm really interested to hear what it would sound like with orchestral strings & synth etc interlaced, as it's got quite a heavy/classical feel to it.

I've attached a link to the song in question, it's almost entirely instrumental, save a few words half way through:

I'm pretty sure I could get hold of the multitrack session files if needed, although it was all done entirely in Pro Tools, so not sure how/if that'd transfer to any other application? If it's do-able, and if anyone is genuinely interested in tearing the song apart, I could post the files on DVD, as uploading/downloading several gigs may take some time

Looking forward to any comments.

 Yo CHAZZfestivities:

I'll give you a simple way to add in some strings to your recording. Simple is about the only thing I like to do.

Take your song/recording and play it back and record it on a multitracker.

Then simply "Overdub" the "strings." If you have a multitracker, you can, of course, record several different strings on overdubs. Or simply delete one overdub that doesn't work and try another.

Then, you just have to do the stereo mix into the multi-tracker and VOILA, you have your "empty" space now filled in space.

And, have a Laphroig or a beer.

real strings

I listened through a couple of times after a day of score copying. I think either one or two real stringed instruments would add a lot eg either a viola or cello (or both) playing in the viola's bottom octave for a rich and darkish sound, ie. underneath the guitar that is giving out a lot of energy in the upper harmonics, not a violin which would conflict too much.

Interesting.
I'm a complete amateur when it comes to strings that aren't found on a guitar, be it real or synth.

Any suggestions?
I'm using Logic Pro 8 currently and can't really afford to be investing right now :(

Any advice/tips/contributions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks again.

Would just like to point out for people having problems with the link.
It opened first time for me because I have 'VLC player' installed which is a free player I've used for a few years now and seems to open anything. Here's a link if you want it:-
