Fancy adding strings/synth to my bands track?

Ahoi,
I have a proposal for anyone who's up for the challenge:
We (my band) recorded a 'semi-professional' demo with a guy a year ago. Since listening to it though, we realised that one track in particular sounds very empty.
I'm really interested to hear what it would sound like with orchestral strings & synth etc interlaced.

I've attached a link to the song in question, it's almost entirely instrumental, save a few words half way through:
http://www.lejogrun.co.uk/Pluto_-_Flakes_Of_Cold.m4a

I'm pretty sure I could get hold of the multitrack session files if needed, although it was all done entirely in Pro Tools, so not sure how/if that'd transfer to any other application? If it's do-able, and if anyone is genuinely interested in tearing the song apart, I could post the files on DVD, as uploading/downloading several gigs may take some time

Looking forward to any comments.

The link doesn't work. Maybe because of the .m4a format. Isn't that the protected itunes format? Or do you use logic or something?

the link works, but like you said, you need itunes to play it, which is a huge pain for a lot of people. I'm sure other software will play it too, but I'm not sure what that other software is.

I see what you mean by saying that you feel it's lacking something. I think I would try putting a rhythm guitar in there so the bass doesn't have to hang out by itself. I think strings would be cool, but I'm not sure they'd fill the void unless they were done really well.

There's some really good stuff on the track. It feels, to me, a little retro of the late 60's or early 70's so, instead of strings, I would suggest a Hammond B3, Deep Purple type organ to round out the track. Another thought would be electric rhythm guitar, but I'm liking the raw feel of the lead, bass and drums.
Good luck.
Felix :)

Thanks for the advice guys, and sorry about the .m4a format, didn't think before uploading

I appreciate the advice, and am intrigued by the deep purple style Hammond Organ suggestion. Not sure if Logic has such a plugin, so I'll get searching.
To be honest, I'm more of a live musician, in the sense that I have little or no idea what I'm doing when it comes to synth's etc.
Could be a good learning curve for me, but if anyone has any suggestions or contributions etc, I'd be thrilled and would welcome them with open ears, eyes and arms :)

Thanks again.
Chaz

Would just like to point out for people having problems with the link.
It opened first time for me because I have 'VLC player' installed which is a free player I've used for a few years now and seems to open anything. Here's a link if you want it:-

Mart.

Aaahh, VLC, it truly is the best.
If there's a codec out there that it doesn't like, I'll eat my slippers.
And I have no slippers.
So I'd be forced to buy some.
And then eat them.
...
Fingers firmly crossed.
