UPDATED VERSION 05/13/10:

.....'cos today's his birthday too!:D:drunk:

Here's a new one with some fine shredding courtesy of SirN. I wrote the lyrics with inspiration from various members in the song writing forum some months ago, thanx especially to Manslick and RayC.

Here's the link so you can tell me what needs fixing:

http://www.box.net/shared/ndkuv45g1i

and here are the lyrics:

False paradise

Eve sucks the life out of Adam
Creeps like a snake on a cold grey floor
Shylock longs for his pound of flesh
The wolves run wild

A million lives torn asunder
The devil’s breath blows at your door
The queen rubs salt in the king’s open wound
Blood on the tiles

And the fathers of greed
Have a thief for every child
Avarice the light
In your false paradise

Cain is the slayer of Abel
Lost in a moment of treacherous plight
Release the monster that dwells inside
The stakes are high

And the darkness thrives
When the claw reaches high
Create the divide
In your false paradise

Clutch at the ring of power
Scepter high and a heart in stone
Avarice flows thru your veins alive
The price of a lie

Cheers
Joey :)

haha Sir N plays an instrument???

at the beginning the vocals seemed to sit on top a bit to me...but of the usual epic standard

Some parts of the verse guitar (panned left) sounded a little quite in my professional studio surroundings ;)

not sure about the solo volume either...I SAID IM NOT SURE ABOUT THE SOLO VOLUME EITHER...:)

great stuff...sir N plays an instrument...well I never :D

you guys rock

hehe....:D
thanx Keith, first mix it is (....said Yoda....)
I'll definitely be remixing again, but with unshot ears.;)
Yup, SirN sure can tickle those strings right!

It's not bad for a first mix. The drums sound more sampled than your usual offerings. More humanizing would be good. The rhythm guitars seem over-scooped. They're kind of thin and/or not loud enough. Vocals are good, although they maybe could sit in the mix a tiny bit more. The leads are ridiculously over-the-top and don't seem to even be part of the same song. SirN can play for sure, but that shit is nutty. Too wet, drippy, wanky, delayed, etc. The leads are borderline cartoonish. That's just my personal tastes though. :D

Oh hell yea!!!!! That's a rocker I could bump in my truck! Rock out with your sock (and hair extensions) out!!!

I love your sense of harmony (is that you singing?), very Dio-esque. Very ballsy guitars!! I get a sniff of plug-in or direct input deal though...something...missing....very slight....but if you found it, and fixed it, I'd probably wet my pants from hearing a perfect guitar tone.

Lead out was a little 'muffy', gimme a little more cut, perhaps the bridge p/u would be best, because there's not as much room in an an outro for that fat neck p/u. Just a nit.

I'm out .....(singing) 'false paradise....' dun, dun, dah....

Hey Greg!
I used Steven Slate drums on this one and they sound pretty real (but you being the drum expert here can suss that out in 2 seconds...:D). I'll see what I can do about them. The wet delay is my fault not SirN's, upon listening to it again, the lead could do with a bit less, so I'll be reviewing that. And I'll see if I can add some low-mid meat to the rythm gits.
Thanx for the help!

Joey :)

I wish I had hair.....:o:D

Yeah that's me belting it out and Dio is my greatest God.;) The guitars are 4 live ones and 2 GR2 amp sims mixed into them for good measure.

I'll be checking that lead sound again. Thanx for the comments!

Not bad. I think the vox are a bit loud in the beginning. The guitars I'm not a huge fan of. The only reason is there's a weird overtoney type sound. As I said, not bad.

It's mainly wah. And the solo seemed sped up for some reason. I still think it's the files I send Joey aren't converting over to his format too well. I dunno.

But the too much wanking, I felt it fit the song. Joey comes across with a Dio vocal style and the song itself reminds me of a Sabbath or Dio tune. So I play fast in parts and hit certain notes in others. I think that fit the style of the song. The wah, well that was because I got a new effects unit before I recorded it and had to use it.

No need to clarify. Like I said, it's just my own personal taste. My solos are rarely more than 4 notes, so you know.......

I'll be checking that voice again. But what exactly is an overtoney sound, too much of a certain frequency? Thanx for the comments.

Maybe I'm too much of a fanboi now, but I love it. It works for me on every level. Yeah, I hear the Dio in the vox--but that's a good thing. And the solo works for me--great job SirN.

This might be my favorite JoeyM tune yet!

Thanx, Bob, glad you like it.;)
I'll try to do a better mix though.

I like it.

There's a few things that make it sound a little short of most professional epic metal I've heard, but I can't really put my finger on what they are.

The high-hat sounds a little loud and up-front, but that's the only really specific nit I can find.

Overall, really good work. I like the wanky solo.

Thanx Steve!
I guess that could be because it's recorded on cheap equipment....:D
Hehe....no, I think the drums could sound a bit better (damn Greg's ears....:D), I'll be reviewing them again.

I liked the rhythm guitars. Maybe not quite enough low end. But good crunch to them.

Drums are a little robotic. To me the snare doesn't have enough power.

I liked the vocals. Good singing and good vocal tone.

Good lead riffing.

Working on a new mix right now and I'm fixing that snare.

I thought it sounded great from the start, but who am I? I gotta say though that my (crappy) solo still starts a little early. It kinda gives the impression that it's sped up. Maybe push it out a little more.

Yeah, it was a weird frequency. It seems to be gone now though
