Still walking that fine line between clarity and depth of stage in the mastering stages. This is the band I put together between 2015 and 2021. This version was recorded middle of 21. In an odd change, our guitarist had a Roland TD9 eDrum kit set up at his place and so the drums are midi. In the new mix, I swapped Superior Drums which I originally used, to Addictive Drums. I can get the Addictive Drums drier, which I prefer.

The bed is a live take of the band. The chorus vocals and the synth are the only parts later overdubbed. I did the lead vocal live in a closet with the acoustic guitar.

The song is about living with the nightmare that is a narcissist. Everything is your fault, because they are perfect unto themselves.

Any/all comments/questions appreciated.

Sounds like a 80s riff song - Narcissist ehhh? You talking about the Orange Turd?

Actually, this pre-dates him a bit in the writing. It was a guy that a friend of mine married that is the model of the lyric. He used to shoot himself in the foot constantly, but then when things went inevitably wrong, he blamed everyone and everything but himself for HIS FAILURE.

So, um, yeah. It fits.

:D

The guitarist came up with the opening signature line based on the chord changes in the chorus. When I originally arranged the piece, it was more folk oriented w/ a 12 string guitar being the predominant instrument. This version is a much more rocked up rendition.
