I'm looking around Ebay for some Shure SM57's and I keep finding adds that say "no fake / no copy etc. etc.".

Does anybody know what that's all about? Are there actually microphone bootleggers out there?

I also found a Chinese guy who sells them for about 35 euro's a piece, but I imagine I might as well bend over and drop my trousers.

Wow, was sitting here thinking I got a great deal on a new SM57 for $59 brand new. When it got here, I noticed the box was yellowed, and not white. It does have a date of 2002 on it, so I thought maybe it's been sitting in storage for awhile. However, after reading this thread, it has 3 holes in the casing, and only weighs in at 240 grams instead of 284.

Thinking I got a fake.

Wow, am I glad I hadn't ordered yet.

Maybe now at 31 I'm getting just a little less naieve... well, sort of...
