I saw that he sold a beatles drum head for almost 90 bucks ..WTF? His description is misleading and it really blows that he is getting away with what he is doing. Im really curious as to what type of drums are actually hiding under the new skins. Does he have anymore kits up for sale? Id like to email him and inquire about the kit and see if he trys to mislead me or if he is straight up about it.

Whats that link showing Jamal Bucket? The Fab Four kit isn't on there as far as i can see?

just that if i was thinking i had been duped into buying FAKE national brand merchandise ...i would be contacting that name brand and see what they thought of it ..oh i see someone else already brought that up .

But you did get the free
Ringo Sticks & Matching Black Oyster Pearl Stick Holder Included :D :D :D

I was checking this out. wouldnt there be more neg feedback on this guy. there are only 2. or maybe no one had questioned him. or the buyers are too newbe or wannabee to notice cause some say they sound great.

Or else he has faked the feedback as well. Someone should contact Ludwig and Ringo.

I just msg'd the seller on this new auction asking about the kit. I want to see if he shoots me a line of crap or what. I told him straight up that the logos don't look like the Fab Four Kits that ive seen and im a little suspicious. If he tells me some BS im going to report him to ebay.
I tried to find a contact email on the Ludwig site but no luck. Maybe im overlooking it.

Things are not looking good for this guy. I just checked out his other auctions, hes got freakin Gibson headstock decals for sale. Probably just like the Ludwig decals he used on the kit.

This feedback is a little disturbing as well

Easy install. Great imposter! Thanks! AA++

you can file fraud charges and get your money back

I used to have a 1960s Ludwig 20" bass drum. The drums back then were a few plys with reinforcement hoops. I don't recall Ludwig EVER making mahogany shells.

 Curios.

Sad when things like this happen. Ebay can be a great resource, but it's fraught with pitfalls.

A couple of points:

  • The item was described as "Genuine Ludwig". It may say "Vintage style" (and it is, really), but it's definately not Ludwig.
  • Do a search by his seller's name, and save a copy of *everything*. You'll find that this isn't the first kit he's sold. Funny how all of the previous buyer's names are private and not viewable! This might be taken as an attempt to conceal fraud by preventing you from contacting previous customers of this kit.
  • On the other hand, the other buyer's might just have been Beatles freaks, and not musicians. Most likely they either don't know it was a real Ludwig -- or don't care.
  • If he tries to come back at you with that he didn't know it wasn't Ludwig, nail him the above. He's getting these kits from somewhere -- or making them himself.
  • You could attempt to find out where and by who your kit is really made by.

good luck and let us know what happens!

It seems like from his other auctions that he is in fact the one crafting these kits. He states in an auction for a Beatles bass drum head that he painted the design on using an enlarged picture. He is also selling some fake gibson decals. So this proves that he probably has access to the fake Ludwig decals that are on the kit.

No response from the seller so far with my question about the kit looking like a fake.

Isn't this also contracticted in the kit you got:

"Genuine 1960's styled Oyster Black Pearl finish(not the modern "bowling ball" type wrap), "

hi guys,

this is my first post on this board. i'm about to enter the world of home recording...that's how i discovered this site.anyway, as the owner of a '65 ludwig drumset i've been watching this thread with interest.

i find it interesting that this ebay seller, as of yesterday, is selling a tom mount and tom arm from what he claims is a "ludwig/pearl" kit. whatever that means. here are the items:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7336696266&category=47089&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...y=47089&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1#ebayphotohosting

i would bet these parts came off the fake ludwigs and can offer a clue as to what kind of drums your fake ludwigs actually are. the tom arm appears to be of lower quality than what you'd get on any of the name brand drums.

stalemayte, i hope justice is served for you AND the seller. if you get your money back and you still want a nice vintage set of drums you might find what you're looking for at vintage drum center.

take care,

Actually I think it would be a decent idea to try to get the fbi involved. I believe its a federal crime(felony) to forge name brand materials and sell them. And this guy obviously has access to forging materials and is probably going to rip off as many people as he can before it gets too hot. Guys like this need to be brought down, ebay should be much safer than this. I think it would be cool if everyone on here with an ebay account either blows this guys mailbox up or everyone contact ebay with pictures of the real kit vs. his fake.

all i've done so far is email the seller, asking for a return/refund exchange. If he doesn't respond by within the next few days, or declines the offer, I'm going to start taking serious action. I will probobaly start with contacting ebay on the issue, and see what they can do. If they can't help me, I will try getting in touch with ludwig somehow and see if they can help me. I have very limited knowledge the federal law of this kind of thing, but If all else fails, i suppose i could try the fbi.

The FBI has bigger fish to fry. Try the Federal Trade Commission.

And I think this seller should be beaten with a pair of sticks by Ringo himself!

Id suggest saving copies of the webpages with the kit he is selling now along with any of the other evidence. You never know when he might pull everything. I assume ebay has some kind of backups but just to be on the safe side.

Alright, I'm going to file a claim with paypal, but I need a letter from a reputable expert to substantiate the claim of inauthenticity. If anyone of you guys could stand as a reputable expert of the subject, i would greatly appreciate it if you would help me out.
