can anyone help me with a problem i have. i'm recording an alesis sr-16 and i keep getting a fluxuation in the sound. the actual level seems as if its going up and down. I'm using a behringer UB2442FX-PRO into my comp onboard sound through the line in. I've set all the levels so it does not redline, but i still get the same problem. I know i need an interface and I'm planning on getting an ECHO LAYLA G3 in the near future. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to correct this problem. Any suggestions would help, I'm pulling my hair out over this.

I forgot to mention that I'm running SONAR 4 Producer Edition, an amd 2400xp, 512 ram xp pro os thanks

I'm rather new, but I'm gonna guess you have one of those compressors that brings the lower levels UP to the dB level you have set, rather than compressing the higher signals - Try listening without the compressor and see if this is the problem - it's just my guess if you haven't tried this already.

It is probably a bad cord or connection of some sort. The only other thing I can think of is you have the velocities on the drum machine all out of whack.

all the cords are brand new and in great working order i have no other problems with anything else i hook up with them. also i'm just using one of the preset kits so the velocity should not come into play should it? all i do is hit play on the unit and let the preset pattern play out.

Is it just certain instruments that seem quiet? That could be due to the panning since you are running in mono.

i have the same problem when i run my toneworks pedal through the board but it only happens on a few of the settings of the pedal. mainly on the clean channels ond a few of the phaser channels but i thought it was jus the settings in the pedal

If those clean channels have chorus on them, your problem is that you are running a stereo sound in mono. The clean channels most likely have a stereo chorus and the phaser patches will do that too. (so will flange)

that makes alot of sense im basically trying to push a stereo signal through a mono channel and its losing its dynamics is that the just of it?

With the chorus a phaser effects, it is the phase cancellation. A certain points as the effect sweeps, the signal gets canceled out. On the drum machine, you just have some instruments panned to the side that you don't have hooked up.

i see its just been one of things that has baffeled me for awhile now. i've tried just about everything to correct it and nothing has worked. i'll hook both channels up and try to get a complete recording. thanks so much for your help. by the way i took a look at your website, NICE STUDIO, also a good list of clients.
