fader vs. trim

hi dudes...i have an equal question...i`ve got portastudio 424mkIII(4 track analog) ...the tascam folks say put the fader to 7 (and master , too). And you say 0 for fader will be better, is that right? What about master-faders? is 7 ok?

Nope, we say 0dB, which usually is around 70% of the whole fader. Which in your case then is at 7. So we agree.

If you want more explainations of what a "dB" is and why 7 and 0dB is the same, tell us. But I warn you, it might be confusing.

well...sorry for that "stupid" question ( there are no stupid questions exististing??!!! right?) i`m very new in that kind of work so...sorry and i`m gonna read more of technical details befor i ask.
