Factory ports on New Computer

I've been reading a lot of the posts with much interest.

I just bought a new computer with all the bells and whistles. On the back there are 6 ports labeled
1. Side speaker
2. Rear speaker
3. Sub (woofer?)
4. Mic
5. Out
6. In

I also have two ports labeled "Digital Audio" (in and out)

I am planning on buying the following to start recording voice over background music:
1) SM 58 mic
2) Audio Technica M30 headphones
3.) Art Tube MP preamplifier
4) Free trial of N-track studio

I have some 5 yr old monitors that I own already.

Do I have to buy a soundcard or will I be able to hook up all the above to the ports on my computer?

What extra wires will I have to buy?

I'm obviously not buying high end equipment but just testing the waters to see if I will like home recording.

Audio Interface to replace soundcard/mic-preamp?

After reading some more on the list I saw that a Presonus Firebox could be used to interface with a computer and replace the need for a soundcard and a mic-pre amp, and have room for 2 mics.

Would this be a better option?
 
Yes, because the built in sound on your computer sucks. :D I believe that you also get Cubase LE with the Firebox, but don't quote me on it.

Bought some cheap speakers at wal-mart

Alright.... as you know since I'm trying to start out cheap in case I don't like home recording or not good at it (or both), I've went and bout a 5.1 speaker system for $40 by Durabrand.

The sound is really good although I know that if I stick with the home recording my ears will start picking up small discrepancies.

I figure that I will give the speakers to my kids computer and upgrade later on if I continue with this.

At least now I will be able to do the mixing and it will be a step above the cheesy speakers that are built into my computer monitor.
