Wait on Time

My fave cover of a Thunderbirds tune,
at least that I did :)

Man, the Texas covers are coming out of the woodwork this evening...not a bad thing.

You've got some chops, and the vocals pretty cool, but there's something really weird with the whole mix, centered mostly around the drums...they sound really phasey...like they were recorded underwater. Hard to explain, I guess...it almost sounds like an mp3 file that has been converted about 20 times.

Anyway...my opinion is shit around here anyway, lmao... so take it for that.

Hey, someone else who digs that first t-birds record...

Yeah, definitely something weird and phasey-sounding happening here. I'm tempted to think it's the mp3 encoding, since it's so glaring and it doesn't seem to be on one instrument, but over the whole mix.

A shame, cause the performance sounds good. What are you using to convert to mp3?

Chris

Sounds great -- with the exception of the "Phase-Thang (TM)" identified above.

Performance is first rate - love the clean, crispness of the guitar tone and the tone of the kit. Singer has a good voice, nice and gritty and has some really good delivery.

I liked it - post ur track-mix-master chain so we can figure out where the phase thing is coming from.

Thanks,

:) Q.

Hevy,
Nice cover man! Excellent guitar work (as usual)....I liked the tone a lot too! I'd like some info on how you got the tone. I picked up on the phasey thing too, but IMHO it wasn't all that bad. I also noticed the Artistcollaboration site, was this a collab? Probably a really stoopid question.

I think chris had it right with the drums.
they were just stepped on too any times.
I recorded it a year ago but remembered it
was a pretty good perfomance.

The guitar tone I used is just from some advice I
got from The bbs collectively.........
I have to record direct right now so I tweak the graphic eq
down 3db at the 7 khz level and then 2:1 compression
also try to take it easy on the amount of overdrive I
record with.

I am a HUGE fan of first album TBirds
Their performance of this song is a classic
in Texas blues rock.

I was mainly looking to share a performance. After hanging with
the people in this bbs I was pretty sure what would be said re: the mix:)

I use artist collab just for storing files right now.
I fully intend to collab when I get more time.

Thanks again you guys.
Have a good week.

The guitar rocks on this. I hear what everyone's talkin about with the sound, but the skill shines through. Great Job. I'm not sure I know this song, but I dig it. Might have to get that first album, I guess

Thank you

Toki in advance and okobd

I can credit this board and the people in the mixing clinic for the 3 complete and at least 3 germs of new songs that I have now that I didn't have even one month ago.

After viewing the musical action in this clinic I wanted to be a part of it so bad that I started to do something I hadn't attempted in almost 20 years. Namely the creation of new original music.

Seriously...........thanks to EVERYONE

Where are you geographicaly located? I'd surely enjoy the hell out of pickin with you.
This was nice man. I love the crunch on that guitar and hopscotchin on the rythyms. damn that was good.. Drums sounded authentic. I like a little more bass. Vocals are fatter now. I wasn`t into that much room ambience but it had a decent live sound.

West Coast

Canadian

You have to go to Vancouver BC and then take a ferry to Vancouver Island and then drive for approx. 5 hours to the northern tip of the island to a town named Port Hardy.

You should look it up on a map.
I am WAY out there my man..............

Maybe someday we'll get to jam, you never know.

It's tourist city up here this time of the year.

They are here for fishing and of course the eco-tourism..

the place is lousy with bald eagles too.
I mean a day never goes by where you don't see one.
blah blah blah you get the gist :)

Nice playing on this. Good singing too.
I definitly hear the phase thing people are referring to. I don't think it's phase issues though because it doesn't give me a headache. I'm guessing the cymbals are pumping from compression.

Strange panning choice. Sounds like the bass is slightly left and the guitar is pretty hard right. Not necessarily anything wrong with what you did, but you might consider bass center and double the guitar (duplicate, not retrack) and slightly offset one part. Preference thing. ;)

Again, great singing and playing. I'd never know you recorded guitar direct. You've got a nice tone going there.
