So when I went shopping tonight to get my materials needed to make my 2x4 absortion panels, I stopped by the fabric store to look at some fabric.

When I went in the store I had in mind that I was for sure getting burlap just like Db used.

I know the fabric needs to be porous and easily breathable. I know you can test it by blowing through it to see how easily it goes through. The thing is, when I was doing that tonight, almost ALL fabrics I tested were the same as the burlap (very easily breathable).

The burlap I was looking at was stuff like this. At $2.99/yd I was even thinking about going to walmart or someplace to get it for about half of that price.

Anyways.....

I want to hear from some people who have actually made these and get some advice on the best fabrics to use and what my options are. There were some cool patterns and colors but were not burlap and just want to know if they will all function about the same?

Thanks in advance ~

Fabric Help

I found that the material didn't seem to matter too much. I've made multiple absorbers and have used a variety of material ranging from a fairly tight woven cotten to my favorite, landscape weed blocking fabric available at Lowes, Home Depot etc. It's cheap, black, and very pourous.

Just get the cheapest you can(in the style or colour you want)as long as it's easily breathable, but not overly(ie. tht fibers would easily escape)

Hrm, black landscape stuff? That sounds cool...

Anyways, I ended up buying a burlap from Walmart since it was the cheapest I could find and seemed easily breathable. Same stuff DB used as a matter of fact.

I have 2 of the 4 initial panels done and will post pics when I get them all completed.

Thanks again for the input ~

cool man, what color?

and did you finally find some 703 in kentucky/cincy/wherever you are?

Color of the burlap is hmm, I would say Khaki? I will post pics tonight.

And yea, the 703 came from the link you gave me:

Great price I thought too. I seen some other posts on here and mine was much cheaper. They had to order it and since they didn't have any in stock I had to buy a bundle (12 sheets), which was fine since I planned on using that many anyways.

Cost ended up being like $6.84 / per sheet (spent like $84 with tax for the lot)

I have the 4 built and getting ready to hang them (although I am always unsure of the location to hang them. Guess I am going to just put 1 each on the 4 main walls around mid way up.

I will be hanging clouds eventually and cutting some triangles for the corners (changed my mind to do this it seems) :)

Anyone know the best way to cut the 703? (I am going to wear a dust mask and gloves, but do I use a saw? scissors? utility knife?) - its 2" thick keep in mind.

Thanks again

Hrm, I thought about that but didn't know if 2" thick was going to be a problem with such a small blade...

BTW, pics incoming in less than 20 mins.. (new threads) :D
