fabric for absorbtion panels

I found some absorbtion panels pretty cheap and decided to give them a shot. They are approximately 2'x4'x6" and are basically rigid fiberglass (I think) wrapped in canvas. They seem well built and look nice too. In the box was some scrap material - the same that the panels are wrapped in. Just for kicks, I did the breath test, and this stuff does not let air through at all.

My question is, are these panels totally useless? I believe this affects the mid and high frequencies, but they should still work with mid-bass frequencies and lower, right? or no?

6" huh? Wow.

You should be able to strip the covering off of the fiberglass without too much difficulty. Get an exacto knife and go to town.

Is there some way you could find out whether or not they're really rigid fiberglass? Until you know their absorption stats, you don't know if it'll be worth the expense of re-wrapping them.
