Does someone know how to separate my drums (ezdrummer) in Cubase 4LE? I've read somewhere along the way about exporting audio file.

Is there a clear tutorial on how this can be accomplished?

Thanks to all in advance

Tu

In EZD, open the mixer and select Multitrack for channel assignments in EZD mixer section by right clicking on the Trk1 and selecting Multiple (or whatever it says).

Thanks for the reply guys, but I'm using LE4 which doesn't have the VST Instruments option in the Device menu. I saw something a while ago about Exporting each drum and then reintroducing it back as a wave file.

Ever heard of this?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with LE4, but you probably have to set up an Instrument Track to use a VSTi. Read the manual, it should tell you how.

Once you get that done, then do what I posted earlier.

Good luck and let us know how it works for you.

I just went on Cubase LE (v. 1.0.7) and if I go to the Project menu and choose "Add Track" and then MIDI...

Then when that MIDI track is made... go up to the Devices menu and choose "VST Instruments"... then in the small box that comes up, choose Drums and then LM-7...

then back on the MIDI track I made earlier, I set the "out" to LM-7... then I have a VST Instrument track.

If that's what you meant.

LE 4 doesn't have the "VST Instruments" option. So I think the only way is to add an instrument track. But then there is no way to separate the various drum sounds. The mixer still works so he can pan the various items and set levels etc. And that's about it.

I see what you mean, I have LE 4 lying around on my machine. I'll see what I can dig up for you.

And.... it can not be done. You have to (apparently) at least own essential.

If you want to separate the parts couldnt you just mute all drum parts except one.

Mute all parts except snare...then render that snare part...do the same for kick, toms, overheads, room ect.

then bring all the parts back into the project as WAV files.

Yes you can do this, IMO it's time consuming.

You would mute/solo sections within the EZ drummer mixer, not within cubase. Although you would have to solo the instrument track ez drummer was on.

Either way, if you like cubase I strongly recommend at least jumping up to essential.

Thanks All

:drunk:Thanks everyone for the help!:laughings:

I really appreciate the responses.

+1. Yup, just upgrade and not worry about the limitations anymore. Getting the full use of your VSTi's like ezd is well worth it.

peace,

Kind of stinks because even in version 1 LE you had the VST rack. The downside was 2 inserts was just to limitating. You could only run 2 VSTi in LE v.1 so I sort of think LE 4 was an improvement, but not by much.
