EZ songs to jam on w/ buddies

Here's the deal. I have a some friends that come over and jam once a month or so. What happens is we start jamming and realize someone only knows 1/2 of this song, or the beginning of another, but not the middle. None of us sing, so songs that are strong on vocal parts are boring to play.

Can someone recommend some simple songs that are fun to jam on. Any style, rock, blues, metal whatever. Something perhaps that I can learn in advance, a simple tune with a few chords.

We are all fairly decent at our given instruments, it's just limited time does not allow much preparation for these jam sessions and I want to get the most out of them.
 
No, you must jam on random Metallica, Black Sabbath, Cream, and Hendrix riffs for all eternity. No one likes learning whole songs...they're hard...and you know what else no one likes? A complainer. So, stop crying and practice that Enter Sandman riff again. :rolleyes: :p :cool: :D :D :D
 
Anything by Nirvana is always fun, and pretty easy. But scrubs is right really. The idea is to start playing the start of Enter Sandman, and then when you lose where you are, do a really sloppy solo in the pentatonic scale :D Also it is mandatory to play the riff from Purple Haze over and over for about 10-20 minutes whilst doing really sloppy solos in the pentatonic scale :D
 
Why don't you pick a few of those songs that everybody knows a third of or the middle part to and learn the whole thing? :D

Everybody should know how to play at least some of the radio rock standards like some AC/DC or Ozzy. Maybe some Led Zeppelin & Sabbath as well.

I say learn Crazy Train, Back In Black, Rock and Roll, and Paranoid.
 
"Wish You Were Here" by Floyd. It's strange that most people will learn how to play that intro, but then they tend not to realize that the rest of the song is your basic simple cowboy chords. It's a good way to go about learning the rest of those "songs that we all know half of"...we learn the hard parts and then forget how easy the rest of the song is.
 
I play bass in an acoustic folk-oriented band-sort-of-a-thingie.. (besides the metalbands)

Everyone plays in other bands too, but once or twice a year we gather on an island, where someone's got a huge cabin, and start drinking and barbequing, and jamming. :D
Everyone's got a riff or something, a chant, or maybe just an interesting noise out of his instrument.. Something he wants to contribute..drunk as mules we just get on with that.
The thing is.. we got a dude that just sings!. And has become quite capable of whipping up some pretty decent lyrics in a minute or two. That's helpful as hell!..

We usually get a 8 to ten songs recorded on the island.. some good, some really messed-up-drunk-in-the-4-AM-kinda voodoo.. :rolleyes:

But it's always fun as hell!! and big 6feet-220pound geezers in the verge of tears hugging for goodbyes on departure, with a 3-day bender hung-overs :o
 
Learning songs is never hard if you want to...just let the fun carry the weight of it all and ambition will take care of the rest without effort.
 
Any kinda Blues song. Even some 12 bar to get you warmed up. heres a few three/four chorders ot get you guys going.

You might try 'Mediterranean Sunrise' by Al Di Meole. The backing guitars are easy. It's the solos that are a bitch. Well, for some of us. :p
