External mixer for my Fostex XR-5

Hi, just purchased a Yamaha MW 12CX mixer because of phantom power, effects, and mixing capabilities. I'll be running it into a Fostex XR-5 multitracker. I'm looking for some guidance on linking it for premixing. I'm figuring I want to go through Aux Return and send but can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
