Hello HomeRecording Forums! I am new to the forum and am hoping someone can help me with a somewhat odd request:
I am looking for a piece of equipment that can act as a low pass filter for a subwoofer that doesnt have a low pass, it relies on the surround decoder which my mixer doesnt have (a dedicated sub-out) neither does the recording Mac.
This is for a "homebrew" recording studio I am building out of donations for a local non profit.
It is some sort of "white van" 5.1 home theater setup where the amp for the speakers is built into the subwoofer unit, so there are 6 RCA inputs, one for each channel.
Currently I have split the audio out from the mixer into 3 pairs so all the speakers receive the signal, but obviously since there is only 1 main output on the mixed I can't just dedicate a channel just for <180hz for the subwoofer.
So the item I'm looking for should (hoping) work like this:
From mixer/soundcard -> rca input -> low pass filter w/ or w/o control knob -> rca out -> subwoofer
If there isnt a product like this I'm pretty good with a soldering iron so I can solder a ghetto rig if needed haha
