I got some official heat(songz/beatz) but can't get any exposure at all...

Anyone know how I can get info on any local talent searches or anthing like that?

BTW I'm in Virginia=home of: Clipse,Wu-Syndicate,N.E.R.D.(Neptunes),Allen Iverson, Micheal Vick, Teddy Riley....YOu KnOw!

Call your local radio stations, ask them what's popping off in your area.

I know the Detroit stations here, they always have open mics or battles going down.

hey Atillah

im in VA as well . . . any luck ?

I am having a hell of a time trying to get the same thing. I started partnering with a group and another lady who was trying to start her own "representation" company. We put on 1 show together. It has since started to "stall" but I am sure if we can find enough people, we can get it going again. Let me know whats up with you.

Man there are a lot of fraudulent ass people like that in VA especially, because there are a lot of artists around here but we dont get any exposure!

Thats why record labels make so many trips around here to scout artists(i alwayshere about this after it happens though!)

Where you @ in Va?

If it was me...

Get you a fat stack of CDs (w/vox. i guess) & start showing your area college & h.s. kids some love by blessing 'em with a sampler. Easy enough to garner some support like that - people talk, CDs travel & get copied, shows get booked, and so on. Get cats who dj college & community radio to start giving some of your joints some burn, maybe bless a few mixtape djs, too. Bless them school organizations (colleges) who book shows with a press kit and a short stack of CDs. A little dough spent goes a long-assed way on the PR end if you hit the right folks with the right shit. Word does travel, and kinda fast, especially in an area like VA where fools headhunting for fresh, new artists seem to like to check out every now & again. I've seen firsthand offers worth at least considering as a result of manhandling & massaging college & non-profit radio - this was in atlanta, but I'd gamble it'd work anywhere, especially in a such a competitive market as the metro VA areas.

There are some other pretty tangible ways to get some listens & looks, not all that free, but not all that expensive, either. The trick isn't to "touch the untouchable few," but to let them touch you after you've licked everybody in their A.O. with your shit. Them fools HATE to be outta the loop.

If your stuff is instrumentals only, then I'd take a bit of a different approach.

Or not. I'm just a home recorder.

good luck

change hit on the head..but you said you did that...thry to get them to pla it on the pump it or dump it..where they play your song against others..whateva they call it in Va i cant remeber...goto Djs at clubs and get them to play it in the rotation at the club..hit it college radio station..this should be the easiest..since they somewhat play whatever they want..as long as its clean...you gotta have a clean radio version to play on the radio..and get in all the talents shows you can..i remeber them doing one at
The Alley in Newport News..i think its on Wednesdays..

hope this help..if not i will look for more info

and actually, the lady i hooked up with was not shady at all. The first show worked well. Why it didnt continue? Many reasons. For one, the place that was booked went "under" and a lotta other places charge for the space (this one didnt).

but any way
i always heare about the scouts afterwards as well.
i try to network and create a collaborative thing goin wit folk, but a l otta times that doesnt work as well. holla if u got any ideas
