I want to export only certain tracks from my project so that I can have them as a wav file mixed together, i.e. all drum tracks mixed down to a wav file. This is to reduce the processing power on my computer. However, whenever I do this Cakewalk is exporting ALL the tracks. I have tried using Mute on the Tracks, and clicking the checkbox under exporting to not mix down tracks if mute is pushed. Why is this not working?

I am using ProAudio 9 and Sonar, it does the same thing on both.

Also, I have 2 hard drives on my computer, a small one that the Operating system is on and a larger secondary drive. Cakewalk is using the first drive to store audio for all my projects, and then I basically bundle them and move them to the second drive when done. How can I make the second drive the default for audio to be saved to?

merciful, try going into the trac view right click on the mute button and select archive on the tracks in question. Can't help you on the next question cheers. Gag

Are you selecting the tracks you want to export while holding the shift key? I'm not real sure what it would do without selecting specific tracks.

Under the audio options you should have the options for file locations.

You can ctrl-click to select multiple tracks. Then either archive them, or use export audio to write them out to a .wav file.

There should be a "right way" to do this, but you could try this:

Open your project, and then "save as" with a different name.
Once you have this backup copy, just delete the all of tracks that you don't want to mix down and then mix down what's left.

Then you can copy the new .wav file and paste it into your original project.

Wait! I just tried it in Sonar.
Open your project and the mute all the tracks you dont want.
Click File>Export Audio and leave all the boxes on the lower right check marked. This mixed down just the ones I wanted. I tried it with each track and got only the one I wanted each time.

Hope this helps and Keep On Making Music!
