exporting midi tracks to audio

I currently use pro audio 8 to record midi backing tracks(bass,drums,keys and such) and add my live guitar. To export my midi sounds from my roland synth I think I have to record the track back into cakewalk as a real audio track but is there a way of recording the tracks separatey(bass,drums,keys) and sync them up somehow so I can adjust the mix later rather than having the rhythm section recorded on one track?

That shouldn't be hard....

While recording one midi track.... just mute the rest of the midi tracks....

if you do it properly, the tracks should be perfectly in sync.
